I want to live at The Village at Chandler Crossings. What do I need to do now?

We're so excited that you've chosen The Village at Chandler Crossings as your home away from home. For your convenience, you can apply and complete all your lease paperwork online from anywhere in the world. Be sure you have a copy of your driver's license or photo ID and payment method.

​You can also complete the lease signing process with a staff member by scheduling an appointment with our office or visiting us during office hours. We will then complete all the necessary paperwork and go through the lease, which takes about 30 minutes.

Is there a security deposit?

We do not charge for security deposits. Instead, we charge for Pre-Paid Approvals, which will not be held and returned later. They will be used towards the last installment and half of the rent. The Pre-Paid Approval is 1.5 x 1 Installment Base Rent. (Example: If your base rent is $400, your Pre-Paid Approval would be $600).

Do I have to pay a move-in fee or application fee when I sign my lease?

Yes, there is an application fee of $60 and an Administration fee of $150. The Administration fee is currently being waived.

What is included in the rent?

The rent includes trash, sewer/plumbing, cable, wifi, parking, and water usage. You will only be responsible for gas and electricity, which are charged by usage to your resident portal. 

Is my apartment furnished? And if so, what should I bring on move-in day?

Yes, your apartment is fully furnished! The bedrooms include a full-size mattress, mattress frame, nightstand, two stackable dressers, a desk, and desk chair. The common area includes a sofa, side chair, side table, coffee table, barstools for the counter, a TV, and a TV stand. The kitchen includes a microwave, refrigerator, oven, and dishwasher.

You will need to bring your own shower curtains (the rod is supplied), kitchen supplies and utensils, bedding, and any additional rugs/carpets or room decor to make your new home yours!

What if I need a roommate?

No worries, ​we offer a roommate matching service to full-time students. Part of your application will be a roommate questionnaire to help us match you with your best fit. We match residents who are most compatible based on their responses.

What kind of cable package comes with my apartment?

We partner with DISH for your cable network.

Is the apartment community within walking distance of campus?

​We are about 3.5 miles away from Michigan State University. There is a beautiful biking/walking path locating right next to our property that leads directly to campus. We also provide free CATA bus passes to all of our residents.

Is there public transportation nearby?

Yes! CATA's route 26 stop is located directly outside of our main leasing office and will lead you directly to Michigan State University's campus. There are also connecting lines that will take you to nearby shopping centers, downtown Lansing, Lansing Community College, and all the way to Meridian! We have sets of CATA pamphlets located in our leasing office to help you navigate the different routes CATA offers for your convenience. You will receive a free CATA bus pass upon your move-in. 

What is the parking situation?

​We offer free parking to all residents and guests. We do kindly ask that guests do not stay more than 3 consecutive days.

Is there a washer/dryer in the apartment?

Yes, all apartments will have a washer and dryer in the unit.

Do you have a fitness center, and if so, how late is it open?

​Yes, we do have a fitness center! It is typically open 24 hours but has restricted times due to COVID-19.

What if I have a problem with an appliance or an emergency maintenance problem?

You will be able to log on to your resident portal to place a maintenance request. If it is an emergency, you can call our main office line 24/7 to reach our on-call maintenance team. 

Do I have to have a guarantor, even if I'm 21?

​You will still need to qualify with one of our two methods. You are not required to have a guarantor. We offer two options for qualifying. You can either pay the pre-paid approval (which is 1.5 x 1 installment and will go towards your last installment and a half of rent) or you can add a guarantor.

Is there a late fee for overdue payments? Is there a grace period?

​We offer a grace period until the 3rd of the month at 9:00 am. If rent is still not paid by then, a $75 late fee will be automatically charged to your account.

Are pets welcome?

Yes, we are a pet-friendly community.
